Style in the High Mile - Adam Lambert wannabes?

Samantha: One of the best ways to show a little more personality in the summer is through nail polish. With bare arms and sandals, toes and fingers get to be in the center stage of a look. I love to be a little more daring with my toenail colors in the summer. I usually stay more conservative with my fingernails, but I’ll do a midnight blue or hot glossy red for my toes. I’m pretty sure me and American Idol’s Adam Lambert rock the same colors! How about you?

Style in the High Mile: Wading through the swimsuit department

monokini-apartSamantha: I was just in Florida for a business trip. Gotta love Orlando because the malls stay open till 11! Plenty of time to shop after a day of work. There were so many bathing suits to choose from, so many styles. I didn't buy any, but got some good ideas of what I'll get next time I need a suit. The tankini is a nice combo. Here in Denver besides department stores, check out a pretty large selection of suits at Old Navy, J Crew, even Target. Who cares how much the suit costs so long as it looks great?

Facebook users all a-Twitter

Posted by Barb Heath in OpinionHive

facebookFacebook has gone through another cosmetic surgery, which, not surprisingly, has Facebook tapping into features much like its younger competitor, Twitter.  Facebook has abandoned its "News Feed" for a "Stream" that imitates Twitter's up-to-the-second updates. While Twitter asks users, "What are you doing?"  Facebook now asks, "What's on your mind?"

With or without the "Stream," many faithful Facebook users' are clearly getting dizzy: stop changing Facebook!  In Facebook's continuous effort to one-up the competition, it has become the chameleon of social networking sites. If users lose sight of what Facebook is, how can it retain a corner on the market and remain successful?

Style in the High Mile - time to slay the gladiator!

Posted by Style in the High Mile in OpinionHive

Style in the High Mile
Diana Glaizer & Samantha Richardson have had enough of the gladiator sandal trend, and think it's time to bring on the 70's trends!  Groovy.

Samantha: So Diana, we started this column last April talking about gladiator sandals, remember that?  I can't believe they are still so in this year, I just don't understand why.  Please explain.

Diana: Ahhh, gladiators ... would you like my opinion or would you like my opinion on everyone else's opinion?

Why you must watch "Watchmen"

Site Map watchmanWhy watch "Watchmen"? That is the question isn't it? Chances are if you haven't heard of the film "Watchmen" you are probably not going to see it... my recommendation? Change your mind! For me to attempt to describe the intricacies of this film would be as mind blowing as the film itself... I am truly speechless. As with many comic book films I have little to no knowledge of the original material. All I did know was the 12 issue series first published in 1986 went on to become a genre defining work of art and that the trailer, the one with that kick ass Smashing Pumpkins song, had me anticipating the release like a genuine ‘fanboy'.

Living With Art by Zack Kopp

stmarksMy conversation with Eric Alstad, owner and proprietor of St, Mark's Coffeehouse and its equally popular neighbor, a bar called The Thin Man, took place in the Ubisububi room, located under the bar, which serves as the site for infrequent musical performances and regular film screenings.  "This one's developing still as a venue.  We've talked about having an open mic night, but so far no one's stepped up to the plate to host one, so it's sort of a venue waiting to happen."

Style in the High Mile - Oscar recap

Posted by Style in the High Mile in OpinionHive

Style in the High Mile
hathawayThis week Diana Glaizer & Samantha Richardson offer their fashion yeas and nays from Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony.

Diana: Slumdog Millionaire was not the only part of this year's Oscars that completely stole the show. The outfits were, in my opinion, some of the most glamorous ones that we have seen in a while.

Samantha: Definitely a return to the old Hollywood glamour with all the strapless gowns, dress trains, and the flared, mermaid-like hemlines at the bottom of so many dresses.  Who were your fashion favorites from the evening?

The $500 virtual gift

$500 "Rare Rose" Facebook GiftOn Valentine's Day, Facebook daringly released its "Rare Rose" virtual gift.  Just how rare is it?   It cost users a whopping $500 (50,000 gift credits at $1.00/100 credits) to put the Rare Rose on a friend's profile.

Just to recap, this is a FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR gift that doesn't actually exist.

A total of 15,000 rainbow-colored Rare Roses were available until Friday.  This meant that if you were lucky enough to get one, only 14,999 more immediate opportunities for people to show off their stupidity remained.

Mile High Style with Diana Glaizer & Samantha Richardson - week of February 15

Posted by Style in the High Mile in OpinionHive

Style in the High Mile

crazyshoeThis week Samantha & Diana continue to offer up the latest styles for the spring fashion season.

Samantha: So Diana, I'm thinking about doing my part to "stimulate" the economy with a few key spring updates for my wardrobe.  Any suggestions on where to start?

Diana: I sure do, and these suggestions won't break your budget. In fact, a lot of these items might, once again, be some that you have stored in the back of your closet. It's time to bring those wild colors out ladies! Hot pink and fuchsia are all over the runways for spring. A popular '80s color, fuschia is now "it" all over bags and dresses. I know that I am extra excited because fuchsia is a color that I absolutely adore. How do you feel about this color?
